The way EYE See It...

This is my photo blog to keep myself thinking creatively. I am taking a photo class this year to hone my skills. I'm enrolled in a photography class and hope to be able to improve my skills. This blog will be my response to the challenges.

Chicago -- Matching perspectives

I've decided to post a response to SB's Chicago pictures. You can see what I saw while she was seeing what she saw. Some of these are similar to the ones I've already posted. I know what makes her photos even better are the stories that she tells to put them in context. I'll maybe get back to doing that sometime later. For now, here are the "response" pics.

Chicago Adventure

I toke ye olde Megabus to Chicago on Saturday to catch up with my friend SB. We had lunch, took lots of pictures, walked a bit, spent time in a tunnel waiting for the rain to pass by, got soaked while looking for a cab, and all around had a good time. She is so very encouraging of me and my art.

Do you see the "eye"?

People + final show

The six week class is over already. If you're in town, stop by Cornerstone on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. and see my work. It's a busy day so I plan on being there for only part of the time. I won't show you all of what will be there from my work, but some you may have seen before (and others will be a surprise).

That being said, I took some photos of people for my last assignment. It is not natural for me to take pictures of people. Here's my best effort.

This is my friend. She is starting a series of treatments for breast cancer. She's got a great outlook on this disease and I am praying for her full recovery.

Color

Turns out that I was not very motivated to do this week's activity. Maybe it's because I don't like color that much. Or maybe I just needed to rest and refocus.

We were supposed to find bright color, muted color, spot color, shades/tones, and something we could turn black and white.

Good positioning. Wrong thing focus on.

The focus is a bit off on this one.

Pattern and Texture 2

What would have made this picture better?

I think they need to be wider views so the pattern is established...and then broken (by the flowers). Thoughts?

Pattern and Texture

I took 75 pictures this week so there are more to look at. Part 2 comes after Saturday when it is supposed to be nice(er) / sunny? outside.

I love the colors in this. It was actually for my "Shape" assignment but the last one I took didn't turn out correctly.

In honor of SB!

Break the pattern.
